I broke out the video camera today with the idea that the girls would add to our burgeoning library of movie classics retold in their own voices. Instead, they continued the Beauty and the Beast narrative and waxed poetic about a great American man and a great American sandwich.

 

Beauty and the Beast, Matilda Edition

Parents, I know you were in a store recently and noticed Beauty and the Beast for sale. Your kids went crazy asking you to buy it for them, but due to Disney's dictatorial stranglehold on their DVD distribution, you also noticed that the movie is priced as if you were wearing Air Jordans and asking friends what Teen Spirit is. So you stood there wondering where you could find this seminal work of animation and downright princessy-ness for a reasonable price. Well look no further. I give you Matilda's Cliffs Notes edition of Beauty and the Beast.

 

The People, They're Atwitter About Twilight

Employee #1: You wanna go to the movies tonight?

Employee #2: And see what?

Employee #1: Twilight!

Employee #2: What's that?

Employee #1 (while bouncing excitedly): It's this movie where this girl, she's in love with two guys, and they're both Vampires!  And one of the guys, he turns into a Werewolf!

Employee #2: I don't know.

Employee #1 (now positively joyous): You have to see the special effects!  The werewolf looks so real!  C'mon, I wanna see it again.

Employee #2: Okay.  Okay.

Two tweens overheard at Forever 21 while shopping at the mall this weekend?  No, two forty something men overheard while prepping our Christmas tree for us in the parking lot of the Whole Foods in Tenleytown.
